Review
The first time that I got to see this game was at EGX 2015 when it was there being showcased and I was very impressed with what I saw. Nearly a year later and I am having the privilege of being able to play the game, and I have to admit that the game starts as it means to go on. The opening scene from Dubai does set the standard for the graphics in this game. You can see if below and see how amazing it looks, and this is carried on throughout the game with the different areas that you visit.
The cities and places you visit in the game are vast, absolutely massive, and there is a lot to see and do. The worlds are well designed and the details are just immaculate.
The voice acting within the game as splendid, and credit must go out to the actors for this, they are simply brilliant. The only beef that I have with this, and it isn't anything to do with the voice acting, it's the animations that are placed with the characters on screen. I found them to be off at times, and what was being said wasn't really being matched by the animations. Sometimes there wasn't enough movement on screen, or it looked like one of the characters was having a fit and all over the place, which meant the balance was off at times and put my off the cut scenes a little bit.
Out of the cut scenes when you're in missions or strolling around the streets I found that the movement and mechanics were sound and that when you were moving from cover to cover is was very smooth and a pleasure to play.
There are 2 ways in which you can play this game, one is by being stealth and the other is by going gung ho and shooting the place up. There were certain situations in which I found playing both ways throughout the mission to be more advantageous, as there were certain situations where I found it better to lure someone away and then take them out, while then going after there buddy afterwards.
The beauty of this though is that it adds so much replay value onto the game, because of how the levels are designed and the style you use, you can easily go back after you've finished the game and play it a completely different way.
When I was in missions, I loved the fact that if I didn't have the keycode for the room, I could always search and look around the area and there would always be a secondary way into that room, I would just have to search very hard to find it.
With the missions as well, as there are so many different ways to do things and routes that you can take, it means that no mission will be the same when you play it 2 to 3 times.
If you do decide to take the missions in a more gung ho fashion, then there are plenty of firearms to get your hands on, from Assault Rifles, to SMGS, Shotguns and Sidearms. All of which come with a plethora of attachments that you can wield to the guns. So whether your a stealthy type person with your silencer, or whether you want to quickly take Augs down with Emp bullets, there will be a something for everyone's style of play.
There are rewards for completing missions in the form of XP. You will also gain XP for things such as stealth take downs, finding collectables as well as going off the beat and track in missions and exploring more of the world. This will be when you find ventilation shafts and other secret passages throughout the world that is not the normal means of getting from A-B. The XP you build up then allows you to upgrade your perks and skills in the menu, and you can do this by using Praxis.
As mentioned above, there are collectables that you can.... collect. These are scattered throughout the world, and again add to the replay value. If you don't get them all first time round and are going to play in a different way, then you can aim to get the ones you missed first time.
Couple of down points to finish off on, and that for me is that the main story is a little on the short side for me, with what I believe to be only 17 missions. However, this can easily be boosted up by the side missions that can be found within the game. There are plenty to do, and with this I love the fact that they link into one an other or into the main story.
Another point was that I did experience some frame rate drops when I was running through the cities or missions, however these did only occur when running and at no other point, which is why I haven't mentioned it in depth.
Overall, the game is fantastic and one I would highly recommend, the beauty and detail in the game, with the fantastic story behind it, it is definitely worth picking up and gets my approval.
9/10
