I have been a fan of the Forza series from the beginning, I love playing driving games as it gives me something different to turn to, other than the usual FPS etc that I regularly play. I have found sometimes though that going round track based racers all the time, can get a little stale after a while, specially going round the same tracks over and over again.
This is where the Forza Horizon series brings Open World goodness to the driving scene. Being able to drive where ever you like, and do whatever side missions, bucket lists etc is a joy to behold. It takes that staleness away that track driving can bring, and allows the freedom that only Open World games can bring.
This game is absolutely beautiful, there are no other words for it. The detail that's gone into the world is simply fantastic. The lighting makes the atmosphere within the game electric! The detail that has gone into the cars as well is simply stunning. The detail that has gone into each car is simply amazing. From the exterior of the car to the dashboard and interior, the detail is second to none.
The weather system within the game is something completely different, and gives that extra element to the game. It's amazing how it can affect the cars in the game, especially as you can be driving along then suddenly a downpour of rain can start, and the dynamics of the car suddenly change. The handling on your car will suddenly deteriorate, and you're going to have to be more careful, especially if you're going over fields as the mud can cause a few problems.
One thing that does impress me with the weather and day/night system is how seamless the transition is from day night, or it starting to rain to torrential downpour. The system with the weather, acts how it should be, and would with real weather in the region. It is one of the most impressive things to do with this game, and its fantastically done!
Gameplay wise, I couldn't have asked for a better experience, if you're used to playing Forza and the handling of the game, then it won't be anything different. The game handles like a dream, and the cars are amazing to drive. You can tell the difference when you're driving along and you suddenly change terrain. You can feel it through the controller, and I think that is amazing.
There are different ways in this game that you can upgrade not only yourself but your car. The skill points you acquire go towards 'Perks'. Each of these perks can be used to boost things such as XP, the coins you gain, how fast you get skill points and a lot more. I think this a brilliant way to try to keep people entertained on the game and coming back for more. However, with the amount of stuff that there is to do on the game, this really wont be a problem! Especially if you're apart of a Car Club, you'll be able to go online and tear the place up with your friends.
Which is another reason I love this game! The social aspect of it. I love being rewarded for playing with my friends online, and this game brings that element in. You can create a car club which all of your friends will be able to join, and you can race in events together, or do tasks around the game world. This will build your clubs XP, and when you're playing solo, your club will still benefit from this. There's also achievements for playing in a club and doing certain things which you can read about here.
For me this game has everything you could want and more. If you're a fan of driving games, I would highly recommend this game to anyone. The variety within the game is brilliant, and I for one love it. Going from Solo mode to Online and playing with your Club or just racing others online is seamless through the menus. So easy do to do and for me it was quick and simple.

The menus are easy to navigate as well, and are well organised. They use the 'Metro' block style design which is done really well.
