Stick it to the Man Review

Review by Steve Burman

Game Overview

Meet Ray, he lives in a world where everything is made out of paper and stickers.
One day he has an accident and wakes up with a giant pink spaghetti arm sticking out of his brain. This gives him awesome powers and he can suddenly change the world around him by folding it, tearing it, pulling stickers off and sticking them elsewhere!
If that weren't enough, Ray can also read peoples minds! Digging into the brains of his fellow citizens, Ray can hear their thoughts and use that to his advantage.
Unfortunately, Ray doesn't have much time to get to grips with his new abilities. He is framed by ‘The Man’ with a crime he didn’t commit, and is on the run.
Can you help to get Ray out of this sticky situation?

Stick It To The Man is in essence a platform game but if you delve a little you'll discover it's a puzzle based game.

Ray must use his new found powers to find clues dotted around each Chapter to solve problems and help the various supplementary characters.

The first thing that struck me about the game was the music, from the song at the beginning 'Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)', to the jazz-like soundtrack that follows throughout your wacky adventure. It never get's repetetive and is a perfect backdrop to the game.

Graphically it's a stunning sight. Even though the entire world is made of paper, the colours are vibrant and well defined and again (like the soundtrack) fit perfectly for the game.

I played the first few chapters while my 8 year old son watched on, we both laughed out loud at most of the dialogue and he helped me solve some of the puzzles.

These consist of working out what the characters need by way of reading their minds and then looking round the level for the things they need.

Ray can peel off sections of the world to reveal things underneath, mainly stickers, which he can then peel off with his pink spaghetti brain appendage and he then returns to the character that needs them and sticks them on.

At the time of writing I am only 50% through the game but even after I finish it I can see me replaying it to fully explore bits I may have missed.

This game is a steal at £6.39 from the Xbox One store and this reviewer can highly recommend it.

Developed by the creative minds at Zoink! With dialogue by writer Ryan North (creator of Dinosaur Comics and writer of Adventure Time comic).
